A Beginners Guide On How To Tape Drywall
How do you keep painter's tape from pulling new paint?
I bought painter's tape to protect my ceiling when painting my bedroom. When I starting taking off the tape, paint from the walls starting coming off with the tape. I had to use a putty knife to cut a not so even edge to save as much as I could. I will have to go back and repaint carefully, but I am curious to know what I did wrong for future reference when I paint my kitchen next month.
The only way to avoid this happening is to not wait for the paint to dry. The paint drys on the wall and on the tape, which means when you pull, you're pulling both the paint and the tape off.
Simply remove the painters tape AS SOON AS YOU FINISH painting the space. It's the only way for it to work.
